There should be a song by Walker Hayes about JCPenney.
“Working on it,” the singer of “Fancy Like” stated.
Applebee’s is mentioned in the lyrics of that blockbuster hit, which resulted in a Grammy nomination and an advertisement for the restaurant business when the song and its dance went popular on TikTok in 2022. The department store in Dallas is now Walker Hayes new partner.
Penneys has partnered with Walker Hayes to create a special menswear line that is limited-edition and will launch in time for Father’s Day. Walker Hayes for JCPenney is a collection of casualwear that includes woven shirts, jackets, short-sleeve hoodies, casual T-shirts, shorts, jeans and a cap and T-shirt with his trademark ‘Duck Buck’ insignia. The line is influenced by the artist’s personal style.
According to Walker Hayes, when the retailer approached him about working together, he was excited to accept.
He remarked, “I’m kind of known in Nashville as a family man as well as an artist.” “My family is largely responsible for the success of my career. My kid and I were dancing to “Fancy Like,” which was the first popular song I owned. It hasn’t simply been me, taking centre stage as this super star of the highest calibre. The focus has been on my family. And I really appreciate that because it’s been far less isolating than this line of work could be. And I believe that’s the main reason JCPenney reached out to me; they understood that I’m a husband and father trying my hardest.
Hayes has six children with his wife, Laney, however his daughter Lela also rose to fame after choreographing the dance with her father.
Being the youngest of nine children, Walker Hayes claimed that he regularly shopped at JCPenney as a child. “I consider Mobile, Alabama, where I grew up, to be a strip mall town. And we would restock our wardrobes at JCPenney when our trousers reached our ankles. Thus, I have a lot of happy recollections.
Penney’s thought that collaborating with Walker Hayes was a logical fit. “We look for kind, good people to partner with, and Walker fits that bill,” the retailer’s chief merchandising officer, Michelle Wlazlo, said. Collaborating with partners who share our brand values is crucial. Walker is the epitome of the family man and a community supporter, which is exactly in line with our dedication to standing with our communities.
She expressed her continued amazement at his ability to balance a family of seven while pursuing his career. The timing is ideal when you consider that country music is currently more popular than it has ever been because Beyoncé and other celebrities have embraced the genre.
She anticipates that the collection, which ranges in price from $20 to $89 and comes in big and tall sizes, would appeal to men who are searching for gifts for their family and themselves for Father’s Day next month. Penney’s has already worked with celebrity stylist Jason Bolden for its Worthington and J. Ferrar brands and influencer LaDarius Campbell for its Stylus label. Both of those collaborations were fruitful.
“Men’s has always been strong, and it has only gotten stronger since we added items like this to the assortment,” the speaker stated.
She therefore believes the Walker Hayes collection will be successful as well. “The pieces are really simple, but the quality is good,” she remarked.

Hayes stated he collaborated on the collection with the Penney design team, acknowledging that at first the process was a little “intimidating.” “My mom, my sister, my wife, or my stylist did most of my shopping for the most of my life,” he remarked. I therefore don’t think of myself as an expert at styling looks or quickly sifting through a store to find the perfect item off of the rack. However, JCPenney was very gracious to include me and source somewhat dressier but still cosy pieces. These are clothes I would wear for a date night, a family get-together, or the stage—basic activities that average laid-back guys like me engage in.
A handful of the pieces are also inherently personal to him. He gestured towards a garment that was redesigned after his dad’s. “He’s not here anymore, but I adore this jacket.” It’s filled with so much life.
He thinks the garment is timeless enough for other fathers to pass it on to their boys and the tales to last for many generations.
“I didn’t put my name on this line in an attempt to make sales,” he declared. “For me, it’s a very personal collection.”
With his performance at the iHeartRadio festival, Walker Hayes will launch his summer tour, which is also known as Duck Buck. “We’ll begin our tour at the end of May. We continue quite well into September, running roughly every Wednesday through Sunday, the speaker added. The bus carrying my spouse, four pets, and six children will cover a large area. It will undoubtedly be an exciting summer.
Lela, the eldest, is eighteen, but his three sons, ages sixteen, fourteen, and twelve, along with two younger girls, are eager to accompany their father on his U.S. tour.
“My wife and I sit down and ask them probably twice a year, just to make sure I’m not just dragging everybody around,” he remarked. He stated, “I get to spend at least one more summer with Lela because she dances in her dad’s performance and gets paid for it. Lela is a cosmetology student. And lastly, my boys continue to like the road. Because I want them to follow their own ambitions, they make it extremely easy for me to be there for them, and I am grateful for that.
Prior to becoming a “overnight” celebrity thanks to “Fancy Like,” Hayes faced several obstacles in his quest to become a successful country music artist. He began his career in 2004 as a lyricist but was unable to find success. According to him, he had to work at Costco from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. in order to provide for his family. “Thus, although it seemed like it did so overnight to the outside world, it wasn’t for me.”
He claimed that he still cringes when he hears people refer to him as the “superstar Grammy-nominated Walker Hayes,” since, in all honesty, all that separates me from then and now is a straightforward tune that the public chose from among the thousands of songs he has created. I’m not sure why the Applebee’s song was selected by the universe, but it did.
Walker Hayes’ life story will soon be told to a larger audience. Variety claims that Untitled Entertainment is developing a written drama that will be based on Hayes.
Yes, Hayes said, “it’s in the works.” It’s based on my love story with Laney and is akin to a television show like Friday Night Lights. Sincerely, our high school reunion has been more of an adventure for me than my involvement in music alone. As I read through a few of the pieces, I started to get really emotional. It brought up many memories and is rather endearing.
However, Hayes won’t be the show’s headliner. “You don’t want me to play a part in it,” he laughed. And is there somebody that Hayes would want to play him, even though the cast hasn’t been decided upon yet? Maybe Tom Cruise?
Perhaps if he had been a little taller, he added. “I really don’t know, but I’d want someone who is a little bit cooler than me.” According to my children, Bradley Cooper should play me. I then remarked, “Well, he’s got some swag.”
