The classic baseball cap is undoubtedly one of the most important accessories when it comes to summer hair, even though short hairstyles and golden highlights are also apparent favourites. Although it’s ideal for grab-and-go situations or hair on day three or four, you may also dress up your appearance with stylish baseball cap hairstyles. We asked experts in hairstyling what their go-to looks were for accessorising a baseball cap and what pro advice they had for maintaining the health of your hair while doing so.
Cute Baseball Cap Hat Hairstyles
1. Simple Pony
When in doubt, go for a classic look with a ponytail slung through the gap at the back of the cap. Celebrity stylist Ricardo Rojas says this is one of his favourites, and a fantastic pair of sunglasses will help you pull the look even better. The best part is that it suits all hair types.
2. Voluminous Pony
Grab a claw clip and try a fast spin on the normal pony. The lower piece should be wrapped up and over the top section after roughly half of your hair has been pulled through the open section and twisted upward. This gives the appearance of having longer, fuller hair.
3. Fluffy Low Bun
Try wearing your hair in a fluffy low bun to keep it off your neck. For a broader effect, wrap the remaining hair around the section that has bubbled through the open hole and tie it in a low ponytail. Just be careful to choose a soft scrunchy rather than a tight elastic, as celebrity hairdresser Chaz Dean states that “the repetitive use of those often creates breakage along the hair strand.”
4. Flared Ends
This one is for you if your hair is cropped. Use a flat iron to style your hair at the ends to create a voluminous look after using heat protectant. This gives your hair a nice form and keeps it from clinging to your face.
5. Braided Pony
According to Dean, braids and a baseball cap go well together. A straightforward choice that works well for a variety of settings is to thread your hair through the exposed area and then style it into a straightforward three-strand braid.
6. Double Braids
Naturally, there are always baseball cap-wearing double braids. This keeps the majority of your hair off your neck and towards the front of your face, which is cool and flattering in hot weather. Bonus: According to Dean, “it creates great waves for a second look if you decide later on.”
7. Bubble Pigtails
Try this bubbling option for a twist on braided bunches. It adds a delightful texture and makes a cap look incredibly stylish. Pulling the parts farther apart by gently tugging on each component is the key to achieving that volume.
8. Short Hair Clip Bun
To keep their hair off their neck, shorts can also wear a small clip in their hair. After gently pushing a tiny portion of your hair through the cap’s opening, twist the remaining hair up and fasten it with a tiny clip. It has something to hold onto thanks to the bubble.
9. Low Topsy Turvy
Desire a two-minute hairstyle? Try this tippy-turvy, low style. Put your hair in a low ponytail, then make a tiny opening and drag your ponytail up, through, and under it. Do this once or twice more.
10. Looped Pigtail Braids
Try the above topsy-turvy concept, but instead of just one, try two braids on either side. This is a terrific alternative to the typical ponytail or pigtail and works well for medium- to long-hair lengths.
11. Twisted Side Bun
Dean adds a low bun is another one of his go-to baseball hat hairstyles. He explains that in order for it to function, the bun must be fastened precisely beneath the hat’s edge; otherwise, it would squish.
12. Knotted Bun
Alternatively, you can tuck all of your hair through the hat’s back opening and arrange it into a bun that rests atop the adjustable strap. Because it is knotted, this version has extra texture and volume.
13. Tucked Hair with Claw Clip
Using a strong claw clip to hold everything up is another method for getting all of your hair off your neck. Make a portion of bubbling hair in the hat opening, then wrap the remaining hair around and up again before tying it off.
